AF QB "750x2" - Easley, SC 2025 Spring Fling Event Giveaway CBG!

My wife wanted to do some donations for the Gettys/Easley Band booth at Easley's "Spring Fling" last year (she's really got the "mom-guilt", as she calls it, with her son in the marching band). She makes killer cookies, so she's covered, but she suggested I donate a build for a giveaway drawing.

Initially I wanted to just give them a pre-existing build, but then I had a vision in my head of a build that is DIY and rustic, but also somewhat contemporary and "nice looking" but not "bougie".

Starting with an Arturo Fuente "Queen B" box and a pull-off 25.5" scale electric guitar neck, I wanted to incorporate a floating "jazz style" bridge and  stainless flat metal tailpiece (based on a previous "acoustic-electric" build I did previously, dubbed the "Piezomatic"), a pair of MGB "Seven-Fitty" single-coil pickups with custom-fitted stamped aluminum covers, independent volume controls, master tone control, the under-the-lid piezo (with its own volume control too).

I usually secure the corners of the AF QB's with a finishing washer and screw (sometimes just on the front, sometimes both front and back) screwed into a hardwood block glued into the corner to secure the lid. But on this one I wanted it to be just a little "extra", so I used some cool corner protectors that also use a screw on the flat top/bottom surface, and in this case they're just big enough to screw into the aforementioned corner block. Looks nice AND does the job.

The magnetic pickups aren't "hot", so you'll have to crank this one a little bit to really hear it rip, but it sounds great and is quite resonant unplugged as well, almost like a banjo!

It's nice to be in a position to help them raise a little money for the school bands. Gotta' give back to the community when you can, after all. I might end up building more like this, I really ended up liking this one, and the winner of the drawing (the owner of our local Kona Ice truck, apparently), really loves it, which makes it worthwhile to me.
